1. If getting homework done is a chore, you may want to try: A. Use a timer. Make it a race to beat the clock. Set the timer for 10 minutes and encourage them to finish the page before the timer goes off. B. Let your child finish half of the page and take a five minute break, then go back to finish the rest. C. Use a reward system. Appropriate rewards: hugs, selecting what's for dinner, extra
time reading or playing a board game with you,
or a weekend family activity. 2. If your child is giving you a hard time about doing homework, remind him/her that homework is a privilege! If there is any grief given to you about homework then you can take the privilege away. Just drop me a note and your child will have to do his/her homework during his/her time at school - recess. Repeat offenders can lose the privilege of homework at home up to a week. (Usually once is all it takes. Then a reminder of the policy will get them back on track!)
