Homework Problems and Solutions:

  1. If getting homework done is a chore, you may want to try:

       A. Use a timer. Make it a race to beat the clock. Set the timer for 10 minutes and

encourage them to finish the page before the timer goes off.

       B. Let your child finish half of the page and take a five minute break, then go back to

           finish the rest.

       C. Use a reward system. Appropriate rewards: hugs, selecting what's for dinner, extra

time reading or playing a board game with you, or a weekend family activity.

  2. If your child is giving you a hard time about doing homework, remind him/her that

homework is a privilege! If there is any grief given to you about homework then you can

take the privilege away. Just drop me a note and your child will have to do his/her

homework during his/her time at school - recess. Repeat offenders can lose the

privilege of homework at home up to a week. (Usually once is all it takes. Then a reminder

of the policy will get them back on track!)
