Helping Your Child with Reading

The following are questions to help guide your child when telling about their story for reading homework:

1. What was the story about? (Who, Where, and What Happened?)

2. Who is the main character and what's he/she like?

3. What was the character's problem?

4. How did the character solve the problem?

5. What was your favorite part?

6. What did/didn't you like about the story/illustrations?

7. What did you learn by reading this story?

8. Did you find any of our current vocabulary words in your story? What were they?

9. Did you find any words that have the letter-sound that we are

currently learning in school? What were they?

10. What new word did you learn? What does it mean?

11. Were there any rhyming words in the story? What were they?
